Mid-Hudson Valley Gem & Mineral Society, Inc. - Education

In 2008, the Mid-Hudson Valley Gem & Mineral Society officially adopted the Gunnison Gem & Mineral Museum located in Pawling, NY. This adoption means our society will care for the fossils, minerals, and rocks in the collection. The project started in 2007.

The care of the specimens includes cleaning when necessary, correctly identifying the specimens, making new labels, and removing any specimens that are disintegrating (such as pyrite).
